Robert Young (no common name) Phyllostachys viridis - Robert Young (also Houzeau) The canes turn sulphur-green to a bright banana-yellow with bright green stripes of variable width displayed on many internodes. A truly exotic, tropical-looking timber bamboo which is very hardy. Likes clay- type soils. Good as an isolated clump or grove. Very slow-spreading in our climate so dense clumps are formed. Basic form is Viridis which is all green and faster spreading. Another form is Houzeau which is green with yellow stripe in groove. Height: 30’ Diameter: 3” Minimum Temp: 0o F Full Sun Best |
